How to Access Curriculum Maps

Note: the above image is a screenshot. :)

To access curriculum maps, click on "Shared drives" in Google Drive, then select your division. Each class's folder contains a Google Spreadsheet document with curriculum maps, as well as folders for Resources and Assessments.

Additional Clarifications

  1. What kinds of assessments can go in the drive? All kinds! It can be any kind of formative or summative assessment pieces that you might use for that unit. It doesn't have to be a formalized "common assessment". You can put assessments in there that you have used so that others teaching the same thing can access them as well. That doesn't mean it is a requirement to use it- just an option. On the template you just list it but you only have to like the assessment folder in the template. You can continue to add assessments as you teach each unit. See slide #16-17

  2. What kind of resources can go in the drive? Similar to the above response- all kinds of resources that you might use in the unit. Anything that you have created or Morrison has purchased. If you are not sure if it is OK to put in the folder, please ask me! Again, like above, you only have to link the resource folder in the template and list each resource on the template. See slide #14-15

  3. What about assessment security? These drives are only shared with staff members in those grade-level divisions. I mentioned in my response to this question in the padlet link above that our assessments should be rubric based and the content should not be a surprise to students. Of course, students should never have access to these drives. Please contact me about your concerns.

  4. Should there be one common assessment/rubric, if so, could that be all that is placed in the assessment folder? It is possible that some units may only have a summative assessment in the folder, but I think that the folder should have other types of formative assessments (quizzes, exit tickets) to be helpful for someone teaching this unit. I don't have an expectation of everyone creating common assessments at this point although they are very helpful to have.

  5. How/when teachers will be able to provide input and feedback on courses they are not working on directly either within their own subject area or when they teach across subject areas? During the last CCC session on Saturday (1pm) teachers can go to other CCC's that they teach and check-in with those groups. These databases are "living" so the templates and the contents can be added to and maintained by the CCC groups as well as other teachers that teach that course continually. Even though we have a deadline to fill the templates and folders for this school year, we will continue to maintain and adjust this content continually.

  6. One or two EU’s does not sound like enough. Can there be more? One EU is the minimum for each unit. Do what’s appropriate for your unit. But consider if you really will be able to address all of your EU’s within the unit.

  7. Are we supposed to be assessing the EU’s?You could assess it or have students reflect on the EU's at the end of the unit, but it doesn’t necessarily need to be graded unless it connects to a standard. It could be a way of checking to see what the students walk away with after the unit.

Purpose of Curriculum Mapping

  • To complete curriculum documentation to meet expectations for Standard Indicator 5.2 for ACSI and WASC accreditation.

  • To have a single Morrison location for curriculum units, assessments, and resources that is robust, collaborative, continual, maintained, and available for teachers in every course across the system.

  • To have a single Morrison location for new teachers to access curriculum and resources as they transition to a new role.
